Baseball Recap: St. Mary's Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hancock last Friday, St. Mary came back down to earth. St. Mary's lost 13-5 to the Maplewood-Richmond Heights Blue Devils on Monday.

Noah Rohlfing was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Rohlfing was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Maplewood-Richmond Heights, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, St. Mary's will face off against Valley Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maplewood-Richmond Heights, they will take on Hazelwood West at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hazelwood West has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.7 runs per game on average), something Maplewood-Richmond Heights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
