Softball Recap: Archbishop Spalding Wins High-Profile Game Against John Carroll

Archbishop Spalding faced John Carroll in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Cavaliers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Patriots a 1-0 shutout. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 5, 2022, but that streak is no more.

The result came thanks to Cessi Prince's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Archbishop Spalding saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryanne Clark, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was Clark's first of the season.
