Basketball Recap: Socrates Academy Takes a Loss

Socrates Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Monday, dropping them down to 0-2. They took a hard 72-57 fall against the NorthPoint Christian Academy NightHawks. The Owls were down 64-34 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

As for NorthPoint Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 2-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points over those games.

NorthPoint Christian Academy was led to victory by Gabe Spann and Daniel Osterberg. Spann went 9-for-17 on his way to 21 points, while Osterberg shot 60% from the field en route to 20 points and five steals. Thanks to that strong game, Osterberg now owns an excellent 46.9% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Crosby Holst, who posted nine points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Socrates Academy will face off against Union Preparatory at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for NorthPoint Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oak Ridge Military Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
