Softball Recap: Westmoreland Eagles vs. Colonial Beach Drifters
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fredericksburg Christian, Westmoreland was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Colonial Beach Drifters as they made off with a 12-1 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Emma Burgess made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kahlyn Reeves was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aven Clarke, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Westmoreland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Westmoreland's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Colonial Beach, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Coming up, Westmoreland will challenge James Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
