Baseball Game Preview: Metuchen Bulldogs vs. Piscataway Chiefs

The Metuchen Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Piscataway Chiefs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Metuchen is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Tuesday, Metuchen needed a bit of extra time to put away South Amboy. They won by a run and slipped past the Governors 8-7. Eight seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Gianni Ciambotti was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Ciambotti was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, James Fenton and Lucas Malamug did most of the damage at the plate: Fenton went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Malamug got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Ryan Alessi was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Metuchen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Piscataway lost 9-3 to Carteret on Wednesday. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Metuchen's record is now 8-2. As for Piscataway, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Metuchen couldn't quite finish off Piscataway in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
