Basketball Game Preview: Sports Leadership & Management Cobras vs. Avant Garde Academy Sharks

The Sports Leadership & Management Cobras will head out on the road to face off against the Avant Garde Academy Sharks at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sports Leadership & Management has struggled recently with 14 defeats in a row, while Avant Garde Academy will arrive with three straight wins.

On December 2nd, Sports Leadership & Management took a blow against Atlantic Christian, falling 85-13.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Avant Garde Academy). They were the clear victor by a 74-52 margin over Scheck Hillel Community School on Monday. The Sharks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 22 points or more this season.

Sports Leadership & Management better keep an eye on Landon Guzman. He was instrumental in Avant Garde Academy's win, going 8 for 11 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Guzman's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikko Andino, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards.

Avant Garde Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Avant Garde Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
