Basketball Game Preview: Willcox Cowboys vs. St. David Tigers

Willcox is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while St. David is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Willcox Cowboys will host the St. David Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Willcox is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since February 8, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Morenci by a score of 46-43. The defeat continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, St. David entered their game against Rock Point on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. St. David took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rock Point.

Willcox's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for St. David, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-8.

Willcox was dealt a bruising 57-22 loss at the hands of St. David in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Willcox, Anissa Jacquez (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
