Baseball Recap: Forest Has No Trouble Against Newberry

It was a proper cat-fight when Forest took on Newberry on Monday. Everything went the Forest Wildcats' way against the Newberry Panthers as the Forest Wildcats made off with an 8-2 victory. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Forest got a great performance from Jackson Owen as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Owen a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Dillon Grace was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Noah Schoncheck, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Forest now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Newberry, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Forest will square off against North Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Newberry, they will take on Community School of Naples at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
