Softball Recap: Marlboro County Bulldogs vs. Darlington Falcons

Marlboro County extended their losing streak to 11 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-16 in the process. They lost 11-2 to the Darlington Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 back in April.

Addison Skipper made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

As for Darlington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win they have posted against Marlboro County since April 5, 2019.

On Darlington's side, Bailey Blackmon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carly Gainey, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keekee Bacote, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Coming up, Marlboro County will venture away from home to take on Aynor at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Jackets' pitching crew has only allowed 0.8 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
