Basketball Recap: Jaya Santana's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rangeview over Mountain Vista

Rangeview was the 66-25 winner over Mountain Vista when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Rangeview Raiders took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles on Wednesday.

Rangeview lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaya Santana, who posted eight points. What's more, she also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddie Kilmer, who earned four points and 12 rebounds.

Mountain Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kennedy Spellman led the charge by en route to 20 points along with seven steals and five boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which Spellman has scored at least a third of Mountain Vista's points. Kylie Brookfield was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Rangeview's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Mountain Vista, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8.

Rangeview wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-55 defeat against Northfield on the 20th. As for Mountain Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-57 victory against Chaparral on the 21st.
