Softball Game Preview: Pasadena Memorial Mavericks vs. Alvin Yellowjackets

Pasadena Memorial hasn't had much luck against Alvin recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Pasadena Memorial Mavericks will welcome the Alvin Yellowjackets at 12:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Pasadena Memorial and Sam Rayburn, and Pasadena Memorial kept the tradition alive. Pasadena Memorial put the hurt on Sam Rayburn with a sharp 15-3 win on Friday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Alvin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Dobie 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellowjackets have posted against the Longhorns since May 6, 2019.

Alvin pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pasadena Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
