Football Game Preview: Cabell Midland Knights vs. Parkersburg South Patriots

The Cabell Midland Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Parkersburg South Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Cabell Midland is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 41 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Huntington on Friday. They had to suffer through a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Highlanders. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Highlanders are ranked second).

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Parkersburg South's offense. They were beaten by Spring Mills 41-0 on Friday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

Cabell Midland dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Parkersburg South, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything came up roses for Cabell Midland against Parkersburg South when the teams last played back in October of 2021, as the team secured a 70-21 win. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
