Softball Recap: Sun Valley Comes Up Short

Sun Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 14-4 to the Marvin Ridge Mavericks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 15-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Gracyn Hawk (2026) was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Moriah Garcia (2026), who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Sun Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Marvin Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Looking ahead, Sun Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sun Valley's pitchers better be ready for this one: Central Academy has averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Marvin Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Weddington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Weddington will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Marvin Ridge surely won't give up without a fight.
