Soccer Game Preview: Stagg vs. Lincoln-Way Central

Stagg is 1-8 against Lincoln-Way Central since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Chargers will head out to square off against the Knights at 6:30 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

On Thursday, Stagg didn't have quite enough to beat Homewood-Flossmoor and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, while the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Maine South who was credited with the win on Sunday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lincoln-Way Central came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked third, while Maine South are ranked 52nd).

Stagg now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Lincoln-Way Central, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1-1.

Stagg came up short against Lincoln-Way Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 3-1. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
