Basketball Recap: Highland Prep Comes Up Short

Highland Prep saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 38-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Youngker Roughriders.

Despite the loss, Highland Prep still got an impressive performance from Kendra Ibeh, who posted five points along with ten boards and three blocks. Ibeh is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Minick, who put up six points.

Youngker's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniela Barreras led the charge by putting up 11 points. Ashlee Gonzalez was another key player, posting nine points.

Highland Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Youngker, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Youngker beat Highland Prep by a score of 41-25 on Saturday.
