Softball Recap: Paoli Find Success

Paoli took a 23-run loss the last time they faced off against Mitchell, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Bluejackets on Friday. Considering the Rams' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jayda Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Smith was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Paoli let Jae Walker and Kalyn Hannon run wild. Walker scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Hannon scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Walker a new career-high in doubles (two). Tariana Burkhead was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Paoli's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Mitchell, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Paoli will be playing in front of their home fans against North Harrison at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mitchell, they will venture away from home to take on North Daviess at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
