Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary's Lancers vs. Nichols Vikings

The St. Mary's Lancers will head out to challenge the Nichols Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Mary's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.3 points per game this season.

St. Mary's is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 73 points last Monday, they were much more limited against Canisius on Wednesday. They took a blow against the Crusaders, falling 65-29. The Lancers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-17.

St. Mary's loss came about despite a quality game from Will Szablewski, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. The match was Szablewski's fourth in a row with at least 17 points.

Meanwhile, Nichols had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They strolled past the Pioneers with points to spare, taking the game 75-60.

Nichols now has a winning record of 11-10. As for St. Mary's, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

St. Mary's came up short against Nichols when the teams last played back in January, falling 54-47. Can St. Mary's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
