Softball Recap: Cle Elum-Roslyn Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Cle Elum-Roslyn and Northwest Christian School squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Cle Elum-Roslyn had to settle for second. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Crusaders when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Braylynn Halverson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Chyane Thornton was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Makena Slimp, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Cle Elum-Roslyn has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. As for Northwest Christian School, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Cle Elum-Roslyn will challenge Lake Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northwest Christian School, they will square off against Freeman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Scotties' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
