Basketball Recap: Voorheesville Blackbirds vs. Corinth Riverhawks

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Voorheesville walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 56-41 victory over the Corinth Riverhawks on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Corinth saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sage Shanahan dropped a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shanahan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn Crossman, who posted six points and eight boards.

Voorheesville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The defeat snapped Corinth's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 15-7 record.

Looking ahead, Voorheesville will challenge Coxsackie-Athens at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Corinth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
