Preview: Monarch Knights vs. Everglades Gators
The Monarch Knights will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Everglades Gators at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Monarch had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They escaped with a win against McArthur by the margin of a single free throw, 52-51.
Monarch got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cody Dinnall out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kensey Bewley , who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 steals.
Meanwhile, Everglades had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past Coconut Creek 75-34 at home.
Monarch's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Everglades, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Monarch didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Everglades when the teams last played back in December of 2019, but they still walked away with a 42-36 victory. Does Monarch have another victory up their sleeve, or will Everglades turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
