Softball Recap: Montgomery Central Has No Trouble Against Pinecrest

Montgomery Central's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Pinecrest Patriots. Considering the Timberwolves have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meredith Spivey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyndal Rush, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Kenley Morse was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Montgomery Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory got Montgomery Central back to even at 9-9. As for Pinecrest, they dropped their record down to 4-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coming up, Montgomery Central will be playing at home against Central Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Timberwolves surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pinecrest, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-0 loss against Scotland on the 10th.
