Softball Recap: Lehighton Comes Up Short

Lehighton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 6-3 to the Southern Lehigh Spartans.

Aliyah Nothstein spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Lehighton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kennedy Quinn, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Lehighton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Southern Lehigh, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

Coming up, Lehighton is taking a road trip to face off against Catasauqua at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Southern Lehigh, they will welcome Northern Lehigh at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
