Preview: Proviso West Panthers vs. Downers Grove North Trojans
Proviso West is 0-10 against Downers Grove North since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Proviso West Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Downers Grove North Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Proviso West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 344th, while Downers Grove North is ranked 56th).
Proviso West's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Glenbard West at home and fell 66-39.
Meanwhile, Downers Grove North beat Hinsdale Central 58-46 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Downers Grove North.
Downers Grove North got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaitlyn Parker out in front who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Ann Stephens was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Proviso West's loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1. As for Downers Grove North, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Proviso West was dealt a bruising 57-27 defeat at the hands of Downers Grove North in their previous matchup back in February. Can Proviso West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
