Basketball Recap: Sotomayor Beats Brennan for Their Third Straight Victory

Sotomayor entered their tilt with Brennan on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 60-50 victory over the Brennan Bears. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 75-59 back in November of 2024.

Sotomayor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Pete led the charge by putting up 20 points. Pete's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jah'Dae Bussey, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points.

Sotomayor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Brennan lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bella Flemings, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Perez, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds.

Sotomayor is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Brennan, the defeat snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 16-9 record.

Sotomayor has already played their next game, a 58-46 win against O'Connor on the 11th. As for Brennan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-39 victory against Harlan on the 11th.
