Basketball Game Preview: Esperanza Preparatory Academy Eagles vs. City College Academy of the Arts

The Esperanza Preparatory Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge City College Academy of the Arts at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Esperanza Preparatory Academy and eight for City College Academy of the Arts dating back to last season.

On Wednesday, Esperanza Preparatory Academy took a blow against Community Health Academy, falling 93-35. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 740th, while Community Health Academy are ranked 333rd).

Meanwhile, City College Academy of the Arts scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Columbia by a score of 55-53.

Esperanza Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for City College Academy of the Arts, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Esperanza Preparatory Academy ended up a good deal behind City College Academy of the Arts when the teams last played back in January of 2024, losing 65-50. Can Esperanza Preparatory Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
