Independence is 2-8 against Gunderson since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The 76ers will square off against the Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. Independence will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
Last Wednesday, Independence got the win against San Jose by a conclusive 17-6. Considering the 76ers have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Julieta Ramirez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laila Morales, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Arrie Aguilar was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Independence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Jose only posted an OBP of .391.
Meanwhile, Gunderson had just enough and edged out San Jose 15-14 on Wednesday.
Talia Abuhamid was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Vejar, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Independence's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Gunderson, their record now sits at 10-4.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Independence hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .403. However, it's not like Gunderson struggles in that department as they've averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Independence skirted past Gunderson 9-7 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the 76ers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
