Soccer Recap: Monroe's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Monroe's and Dougherty's game on Thursday was close at halftime, but Monroe turned on the heat in the second half with five goals. The Monroe Golden Tornadoes' defense stepped up to hand the Dougherty Trojans a 6-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what the Golden Tornadoes needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

With the win, Monroe broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3. As for Dougherty, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe will face off against Lanier County at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Dougherty, they will square off against Bainbridge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
