Softball Recap: Incarnate Word Takes a Loss

Incarnate Word was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Holy Cross Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 back in March.

Incarnate Word's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Holy Cross, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Incarnate Word will take on TMI-Episcopal at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Shamrocks are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Holy Cross, they will face off against Saint Mary's Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Barons have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
