Basketball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Ellicott

Ellicott won the last time they faced Manitou Springs and things went their way on Friday too. The Ellicott Thunderhawks came out on top against the Manitou Springs Mustangs by a score of 44-31. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunderhawks.

Manitou Springs' loss came despite strong showings from Nolan Barrett and Brooklynn Sheffield. Barrett posted 12 points and three steals, while Sheffield scored eight points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Barrett has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Lexi Sobral also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Ellicott's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points over those games. As for Manitou Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ellicott will host Banning Lewis Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Manitou Springs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against The Vanguard School at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
