Baseball Recap: Rio Linda Has No Trouble Against El Camino

Rio Linda never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the El Camino Eagles as they made off with a 9-0 win. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Ayden Crawford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Rio Linda's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carlos Martinez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mathias Culp, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Rio Linda and bumps their season record up to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for El Camino, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Rio Linda will square off against Casa Roble at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for El Camino, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Dixon at 4:15 p.m.
