Baseball Game Preview: Clover Hill Cavaliers vs. Midlothian Trojans

The Clover Hill Cavaliers will head out on the road to take on the Midlothian Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Clover Hill has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Clover Hill took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They skirted past Cosby 8-7. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Keller Williams looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Lucas Rose and Owen Tingen did most of the damage at the plate: Rose went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Tingen went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Spence, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Midlothian entered their tilt with Hanover on Wednesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 10-5. Midlothian's victory was all the more impressive since the Hawks were averaging only 2.4 runs allowed on the season.

Midlothian pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Clover Hill, their record now sits at 7-4.

Clover Hill came out on top in a nail-biter against Midlothian in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
