Basketball Game Preview: Floyd Central Highlanders vs. Lanesville Eagles

Floyd Central hasn't had much luck against Lanesville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Floyd Central Highlanders will challenge the Lanesville Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Lanesville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Floyd Central, who comes in off a win.

Floyd Central will head into Saturday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 23) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Borden, sneaking past 39-37. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Braves are ranked 81st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lanesville's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 43-36 to Brownstown Central.

Floyd Central's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Lanesville, their defeat ended a 17-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-2-1.

Floyd Central came up short against Lanesville in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 47-41. Can Floyd Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
