Football Recap: Park Crossing Thunderbirds vs. Stanhope Elmore Mustangs
Park Crossing was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost to the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs at home by a 31-12 margin. The Thunderbirds lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in October of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 56-14 score last time.
Arthur Mcqueen was his usual excellent self, rushing for 227 yards while picking up 14.2 yards per carry for Stanhope Elmore. Mcqueen's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Coleman, who rushed for 132 yards.
Park Crossing's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Stanhope Elmore, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Park Crossing will head out to challenge Russell County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stanhope Elmore, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Smiths Station at 7:00 p.m. on September 27th.
