Stanberry extends road losing streak to three

Recap: Stanberry Bulldogs vs. Worth County Tigers

The Stanberry Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 63-51 to Worth County. While losing is never fun, Stanberry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 512th, while Worth County is ranked 162nd).

Worth County was led to victory by Caleb New and Tyler New. New went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 19 points and 3 assists, while New scored 19 points along with seven assists. The matchup was New's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bo Collins, who scored eight points.

Stanberry bumped their record down to 3-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Worth County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Stanberry will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Joseph Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. St. Joseph Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 464 points over their last six matchups. As for Worth County, they will face off against Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Albany and Worth County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
