Soccer Recap: William Byrd Comes Up Short

William Byrd lost against Staunton River back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Terriers fell 3-1 to the Golden Eagles.

William Byrd's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 4-3-1. As for Staunton River, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. William Byrd will take on Northside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. William Byrd will be up against Northside's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.11 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Staunton River, they will face off against Amherst County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
