Basketball Recap: Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate Comes Up Short

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 32-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes. The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hurricanes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2015.

Aliana Arana was her usual excellent self, putting up 13 points for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Castelli, who posted six points.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tampa Bay Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they and Hernando will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's defense has only allowed 20.1 points per game this season, so Hernando's offense will have their work cut out for them.
