Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Christian Finds Home Field Redemption Against Maranatha Christian

There's no place like home for Santa Fe Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Maranatha Christian on Friday. This was a revenge game for Santa Fe Christian: when they faced off against Maranatha Christian on Wednesday, they had to take a 9-6 loss.

Will Cavanaugh looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kyle Plasman was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Santa Fe Christian is 4-1 when Plasman posts two or more runs, but 8-11 otherwise. Dylan Haines also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The win got Santa Fe Christian back to even at 12-12. As for Maranatha Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-19.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Fe Christian will head out to challenge Bishop's at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Maranatha Christian, they will venture away from home to take on La Jolla Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Torreys' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
