Basketball Game Preview: Southbridge Pioneers vs. Uxbridge Spartans

Southbridge is 0-10 against Uxbridge since January of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Southbridge Pioneers will welcome the Uxbridge Spartans at 6:30 p.m.

Southbridge is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They were outmatched by Northbridge and fell 74-39.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Uxbridge). They blew past Bartlett 61-39 on Friday. The Spartans pushed the score to 54-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Indians cut but never quite recovered from.

Southbridge better keep an eye on Brady Esposito. He was instrumental in Uxbridge's win, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Those 18 points gave Esposito a new career-high. Thatcher Sweeney was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Uxbridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Southbridge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Southbridge couldn't quite finish off Uxbridge in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 41-39. Can Southbridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
