Basketball Recap: Morton Ranch Takes a Loss

Morton Ranch lost against Mayde Creek back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Morton Ranch Mavericks fell just short of the Mayde Creek Rams by a score of 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mavericks have suffered since December 16, 2024.

It was another big night for Christian Gibson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards for Mayde Creek. Gibson's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Chretien II, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Morton Ranch has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Mayde Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-11.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Cinco Ranch the next time they take the court. Mayde Creek will head out to face Cinco Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Morton Ranch will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st.
