Tipton extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-10 in the process. They came up short against the Madison-Grant Argylls, falling 11-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
Tipton got a good showing from Gabe Wiggington, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Wiggington a new career-low in walks (zero).
At the plate, Piercen Nasser made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Madison-Grant, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.
On Madison-Grant's side, Brock Barnhart made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Barnhart has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Madison-Grant got a big performance out of Xavier Yeagy, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The Argylls are undefeated when Yeagy posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Luke Gilman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Coming up, Tipton will face off against Lapel at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Madison-Grant, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Oak Hill at 5:00 p.m. The Argylls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
