Basketball Game Preview: Da Vinci Dragons vs. Diboll Lumberjacks

The Da Vinci Dragons and the Diboll Lumberjacks will round out the year against one another at at 10:20 a.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Da Vinci's tournament run continued when they took on Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes on Friday. Da Vinci slipped by Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes 65-64. The win was all the more spectacular given the Dragons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Storm are ranked 218th).

Meanwhile, Diboll was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 62-55 to Central Heights. While the Lumberjacks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Devils 12-7 in the first quarter.

Da Vinci has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Diboll, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Da Vinci strolled past Diboll in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 73-54. Will Da Vinci repeat their success, or does Diboll have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
