Baseball Game Preview: Notre Dame Green Knights vs. Wilbur Cross Governors

Notre Dame has gone a perfect 3-0 against Wilbur Cross recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Green Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Governors at 3:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Notre Dame couldn't beat Hand on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Green Knights fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 7-6.

Nate Marczak was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Notre Dame: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of John Paul Malafronte, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Wilbur Cross was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against North Haven, falling 8-2.

Zavion Mcrea made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. Jaden Martinez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Notre Dame's record is now 6-6. As for Wilbur Cross, their record now sits at 0-15.

Notre Dame came out on top in a nail-biter against Wilbur Cross when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
