Softball Recap: Resurrection Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Resurrection barely beat DePaul College Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bandits' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rams a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Bandits, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Elizabeth Dorgan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Dorgan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Resurrection let Alaina Pilas and Sophia Spanos run wild. Pilas went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Spanos went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Pilas has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Skweres, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Resurrection kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as DePaul College Prep only managed four hits.

Resurrection pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for DePaul College Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Resurrection will face off against St. Laurence at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for DePaul College Prep, they will challenge ITW David Speer Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pride have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.05 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
