Volleyball Game Preview: Carthage Tigers vs. Republic Tigers

Carthage will challenge Republic at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Thursday. Carthage fell 3-1 to Willard.

Carthage started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Republic had already won six in a row and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They blew past the Vikings 3-0.

One reason for the win was Republic's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-8, 25-6.

Carthage better keep an eye on Bria Claxton. She was instrumental in Republic's win, getting six aces and three digs. Those six aces gave Claxton a new career-high.

Republic was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Carthage's loss dropped their record down to 10-15-1. As for Republic, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10-1.
