Football Recap: Trey Ross' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coffee over Ware County + How To Watch

Coffee was the 20-16 winner over Ware County when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Trojans fell 24-14 to the Gators on Friday. Despite 203 more yards than the Gators, the Trojans couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Coffee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Ross, who threw for 223 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt. Kentavius Debruce handled things on the ground, rushing for 126 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Ware County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamario Rice led the charge by picking up 104 receiving yards and one score. Another player making a difference was Tayshaun Franklin, who rushed for 80 yards and one TD.

Coffee's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Ware County, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coffee will take on Columbia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ware County, they will challenge Bainbridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
