Baseball Recap: Rocklin's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak at Home

Rocklin dropped their record down to 18-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Davis Sr. Blue Devils by a score of 2-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Thunder were not able to get on the board.

Troy Ueltzen was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last four contests.

As for Davis Sr., they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

On Davis Sr.'s side, the result came thanks to Cade Castles's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. Castles has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eli Burnham was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

While Rocklin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
