Basketball Game Preview: Jamestown Eagles vs. New Kent Trojans

The Jamestown Eagles will face off against the New Kent Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Jamestown has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with six straight defeats, while New Kent will come in with 13 straight victories.

Jamestown lost 70-50 to Grafton last Friday.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for New Kent against Poquoson on Friday as the team secured a 94-39 win. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Jamestown better keep an eye on Will Ross. He was instrumental in New Kent's win, going 10 for 18 from beyond the arc en route to 36 points and four steals. Ross' evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Diggs, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

New Kent smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

New Kent pushed their record up to 13-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.2 points per game. As for Jamestown, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Jamestown came up short against New Kent in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 77-68. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ross, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points in addition to five assists and four steals.
