Basketball Game Preview: Clay City Eels vs. North Central Thunderbirds

The Clay City Eels will take on the North Central Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Clay City made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Shakamak, but still couldn't quite topple them. Clay City blew past Shakamak, posting a 68-33 win. The Eels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, North Central was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-66 heartbreaker at the hands of Shakamak.

Clay City pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.3 points. As for North Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Everything went Clay City's way against North Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Clay City made off with a 67-41 win. Will Clay City repeat their success, or does North Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
