Softball Recap: Castle Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Castle and Floyd Central squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Castle had to settle for second. They fell 5-1 to the Highlanders. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Castle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mati Hughes, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Hughes has hit this season.

Castle's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Floyd Central, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 26-4.

Castle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Floyd Central, they will face off against Greenfield-Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Highlanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
