Basketball Recap: Apache Junction Takes a Loss

Apache Junction was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 64-23 loss at the hands of the ALA - Ironwood Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-17 back in November of 2025.

Apache Junction got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Ainsley Clark and Haylee Smith, who each put up 11 points. Clark also led the team in rebounds with nine.

It was another big night for Sylvia Willis, who almost dropped a double-double with 43 points and nine steals for ALA - Ironwood. That makes it 19 consecutive games in which Willis has scored at least a third of the Warriors' points. Ashlee Sandiford was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and five steals.

Apache Junction's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for ALA - Ironwood, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-14 record.

Apache Junction has already played their next contest, a 49-36 loss against Globe on the 5th. As for ALA - Ironwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-35 defeat against Gilbert Christian on the 5th.
